The Big Conspiracy: Introduction

The phrase “The Big Lie”, as listed in Merriam-Webster, is defined as “a deliberate gross distortion of the truth used especially as a propaganda tactic”.  First used in 1824, it gained infamy during World War II when Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi Propaganda Minister, fine-tuned the technique for mass media application in the 1930s. Goebbels wrote:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

Two things come straight out of this:
·         That there are adverse consequences to the Big Lie that must be covered up.

·         That the State will ruthlessly suppress the truth so that the Big Lie’s consequences are not exposed.
In parallel with this is another aspect: accusations of disloyalty / paranoia.  Anyone that doubts the State's Big Lie is accused of being disloyal to the regime (or outright unpatriotic).
I will argue that there is another “Big Thing” out there endangering our Republic and, more broadly, Western Civilization itself: The Big Conspiracy.  In kind with my addition, just above, anyone who discusses or identifies / exposes a Big Conspiracy is automatically accused of paranoia, needing meds, etc., or otherwise dismissed with some version of "That just can't be!"
This is the introduction to what I expect will be a series in which I discuss numerous Big Conspiracies that I believe exist.  No, I am not donning my foil hat in my mother’s basement; rather, I have reluctantly – very reluctantly – come to these conclusions only after studious contemplation of what I see as disparate pieces of evidence.

And a side note: as I’ve said before, I work in a STEM field.  One of the aspects of my job is to see bits and pieces of information here, and there, and connect them into a pattern that helps identify and then solve a problem.  At the risk of injury from twisting my arm patting myself on the back, I’d like to think I’m good at it.

In the spirit of Merriam-Webster, let me offer up a definition of the Big Conspiracy:

A plan so audacious in scope and scale and time horizon, with an intent so sweeping, that even when told about it by people with personal experience in it and/or presented with strong evidence supporting the exposure, the average person will refuse to believe it.

As I continue with this series of several examples in subsequent posts, please keep in mind the above definition.  Again, these are not fictitious, but rather real-world.  And as you read them, quell your instinctive “that can’t be true” reaction for a moment and investigate the links I provide, and watch the embedded videos.  More is at stake than you can possibly imagine.
Happy weekend… and stock up on foil hats.  I suspect, after reading this series, you may want them!
